Sailor Babo goes on a boat ride

For BSG’s birthday, he wanted to go camping. He wanted to go where he could take his boat out, maybe do some fishing and get out of the desert heat.

Babo thought that sounded like fun. AmyH thought, “I suppose, since it’s your birthday.”

They took off a day and many hours later than expected because of what Babo understood had to do with clusters.

After a five-hour drive and a 7,000 foot elevation change, they finally made it to Big Lake, Arizona.

BSG even let him steer the boat.

Because of more clusters, they were only on the boat for an hour on Sunday before they had to pack up again and drive home.

They are planning on more camping trips in the hope of getting it right eventually.

  1. I don’t suppose Sailor Babo understood what the clusters were in reference to?

It still looks like fun, even if you had to pack up after an hour. (Following a five-hour drive! Boy, hope the drive was at least pleasant.) Did you get to fish? That looks like a prime trout lake there.

Did the boys go out by themselves, or did you go along, too? I seem to recall another time when BSG took SB out on a wilderness trip without you.

I only approve of clusters when they’re a part of breakfast cereal.

Sailor Babo appears to be getting a very nice tan here. (Although I’m not sure “tan” is the correct word, given that the starting shade is gray…)

The lake looks just beautiful! Keep trying! The clusters will go away with practice!

y’all are very knowledgeable about yer clusters, but I’m not. maybe AZSB would care to enlighten me?
(the lake does look beautiful, lauri>/b>)

  6. Aw, I’m so glad he got to go on a boat! I have no idea what clusters are…SBoB hopes they are like clusters of chocolate chips you’d find in a cookie.

“Clusters” in this reference are things that go wrong that shouldn’t but they do and add more layers of complexity, confusion and hassle into a situation. Also known collectively as “A Giant ClusterF*&k.” (edited for content as this is a family site).    A giant chocolate cluster cookie is much more desirable.

Ah ha! I was thinking the correct kind of clusters! Yay, me. 🙂

BSG and his “We’ll figure it out as we go along” way of doing things is not completely to blame for the entire lateness of our start. Had I not left the boat registration on my couch, we would have been on the road by 6 a.m., not the 8 a.m. that actually happened. There were two hours of driving back and forth between my house and his house (where the boat was). His house was also on the way so there was significant backtracking.   But had he not on Friday forgot the thingamagiggy that hooks up the trailer lights to the Jeep was at my place and not his place, the registration snafu wouldn’t have happened. Maybe.   No one lost their tempers and it was overall a nice yet non-relaxing weekend.

It’s always good to see a Sailor Babo actually on a boat.
