The Curator and her husband headed up to NYC for a quick trip. It was for a friend’s wedding so we didn’t do much sight-seeing, but Sailor Babo managed to have a few delicious adventures.
Here he is on the train. “Are we there yet?”
Then we waited in line for a taxi to get to our hotel.
Then we explored the hotel. “This is the life!”
There was a very nice outdoor terrace at the hotel. Sailor Babo managed to find an unguarded glass of wine.
Later that night we went to Momofuku Noodle Bar for dinner. Sailor Babo perused the menu:
And decided on spicy ramen. Yummy!
Of course, no meal is complete without dessert for Sailor Babo, so we took him to Momofuku’s Milk Bar.
He got the birthday cake truffles and a pretzel milkshake. While they weren’t cookies, they were still pretty good.
The next morning was the highlight of the trip for the little fella. We took him to the first U.S. outpost of Ladurée, famous for their amazing macarons (French sandwich cookies – not to be confused with macaroons).
We went in and he checked out all the cookies, plus some salted caramel sauce:
“So many flavors!”
“I know what I want!”
“No, wait. THIS is the one I want!”
Well, we couldn’t get that huge tower but we did get a nice assortment of cookies for him, including rose, orange blossom, salted caramel, lemon-lime and chocolate.
Which he promptly tried to devour right there at the store:
We managed to convince him to wait till he got back to the hotel before feasting on them.
10 seconds later:
He was so stuffed but he did eat that last cookie eventually.
And thus concludes Sailor Babo’s whirlwind trip to NYC! He can’t wait to go back and get more fancy cookies.
