Another good thing about writer peeps…

Is that just like Vox/WP peeps, they keep Sailor BabO Canada and Laurie supplied with things they can’t get in Canadian supermarkets!  Several of the writers came in from the US yesterday, and one of them drove, so had lots of room in his car to bring boxes of Corn Chex, and red velvet and pound cake mixes!

    Wheat is the rarest Chex species.

    One of your countrypeeps told me that red velvet mix is available up there now.

      Aren’t Wheat Chex pretty much the same as Shreddies? Do you have Shreddies down there?

      Ooh, I clearly haven’t noticed RV in the supermarket myself, but that’s good to know!

        Nope. They’re the same shape/form as Corn Chex and Rice Chex, but dark brown b/c of the wheat. They only come in the small box.

          Yeah, that’s pretty much the same as Shreddies, (Which is different from Shredded Wheat.)

            So you guys don’t get Corn and Rice Chex, even under a silly name? In the giant boxes?

            Boy. Almost not worth the health care.

              For some reason, we do get Rice Chex. But not Corn. We have a cereal called Crispix that’s rice lattice on one side and corn lattice on the other, but it’s obviously not as good as straight up Corn Chex. Maybe I’m the only Canadian who craves it.

                I wonder why you’re being deprived of the one canonical Chex flavor? You can’t have proper Chex Mix without it. Crispix has been around for decades but I don’t know anyone who really likes it, certainly not more than the separate Chex-es. There’s no store brand versions of Crispix like there is of the Chex flavors, so that tells you something. I find that since the rice side gets soggy faster than the corn side, it’s harder to eat. You either get gooey rice or too-crunchy corn.
